This course introduces the residential and domiciliary care worker to the principles of infection control. The content includes: bacteria and viruses; modes of spread; people at risk; standard precautions, hand hygiene, dress code; disposal of waste; blood spillages; collecting and handling specimens; disinfection and sterilization. Residential or domiciliary care workers who are undertaking the Skills for Care Common Induction Standards or NVQ mandatory units in Health and Safety will benefit from this course, and in line with CSCI recommendations for mandatory training should repeat it on a yearly basis.
