According to the international classification of diseases Dementia is a syndrome caused by disease of the brain, usually of chronic or progressive nature in which there is a degeneration of brain function including memory, thinking, orientation, comprehension, calculation, language and judgement. The content of this course includes: definition, terminology; diagnosis, aetiology of dementia, care planning and the mental capacity act etc. Residential or domiciliary care workers who care for older vulnerable people will benefit from the person centred approach towards this course.
