Six Hundred people are injured every year due to underground cables being damaged during excavation work on the highway. There are also many people injured through damaging water and gas pipes. When cables and pipes are damaged there are often high repair charges and loss of work. Competence training in the use of cable locators is widely recognized as one of the key steps to reducing cable strikes.
