Who should attend?

Entry requirements

Level 1
3 GCSEs at grade 9-1

Level 2
5 GCSEs 9-3, including English or Maths
OR
Level 1 Public Services plus English or Maths GCSE grade 3 or Level 1 equivalent

Level 3
4 GCSEs (Subsidiary Diploma) or 5 GCSE’s (90 Credit Diploma) at grade 9-4, including English
OR
Level 2 Public Services gaining a Merit portfolio grade plus GCSE grade 4 or above in English or Maths or equivalent Level 2, and GCSE grade 3 or Level 1 in the other

What will I be able to do on completion?

Further study

On completion with the appropriate pass and English and maths grades you can progress through the levels. After level 3 previous students have undertaken degrees in law, public policy, criminology, peace studies, psychology, sociology and many more.

Wakefield College also provides the opportunity to continue your studies onto our Foundation Degree in Public Sector Management programme offered at our City campus.

Career Opportunities

Entry into public services careers such as the Armed Forces, Police, Fire Service, Coastguard, Prison Service, Customs or other public organisations.

How will I be assessed?

There are continuous assessments throughout the course. These consist of projects, presentations, physical demonstrations and written assignments. You may also be required to sit a controlled assessment as part of the course requirements; this will aid and develop your time management and rational thinking skills that will help you in your future career.
