What topics are covered by the course?

What you will study

You will work towards Functional Skills in English and Maths if required alongside the apprenticeship standard.

Whilst studying towards the apprenticeship standard, you will cover a variety of Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours, including the below plus a variety of others;

•Information technology (IT) systems for the supply chain: Excel, material requirements planning (MRP) systems and business planning systems.
•The key principles of Continuous Improvement (CI) Management and Problem Solving.
•Logistics: the importance of logistics cost, the impact of short-lead time and high demand volatility logistics on network planning.
•Communicate using appropriate methods and FMCG terminology; verbal, email, face to face.
•Builds good relationships with others, works collaboratively, contributes ideas and challenges appropriately, leads by example.

Maths and English are key elements of apprenticeship programmes, apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment for this apprenticeship.

Skills in Maths and English will support your apprenticeship programme, assisting you with assignment writing, research, job applications, presentations, managing your own finances and interpretation of data, to mention just a few. They will also help you in the future. Most employers are looking for ability in these areas and the majority of university courses require you to have Maths and English GCSEs at A*-C (4-9) This is why the development of Maths and English is so important, whatever your field of study."

Choose between widening your experience within the logistics sector or undertaking a relevant Advanced Apprenticeship. This could lead you to a Logistics Operations Management qualification at Level 3.
