PBIT/EBIT, EBITDA, PBT/EBT, PAT and retained profit
Understanding the balance sheet: fixed assets and depreciation, stock, debtors, cash, creditors, capital and reserves
The working capital cycle
Cash flow statement – why profit does not equal cash
Turnover, profit margins and trends
An introduction to ratios; liquidity & current ratio, how to calculate these and when to use them
The importance of return on equity (ROE) and return on capital employed (ROCE)
The course focuses on understanding the annual report and accounts (statutory audited accounts) and we use many different sets of accounts – from small companies through to plcs - to ensure you know how to apply each concept to real world situations.
