THREE WEEK TRAINING PROGRAMME - THE BEST. To enter into any new trade you need the best possible start, this will not be achieved in two or six days, you need to complete a Professional Training Course designed to give you exactly what you require and the best possible advantage to gain knowledge and skill. Our training course is three weeks in duration this consists of two weeks technical workshop training and one weeks field training. Technical Workshop Training: Designed to give you the knowledge you require to go out in the field and handle the majority of situations that may arise. This training concentrates on the working of locks and keys, you will taken them apart and put them back together, you will make up keys, you will pick open locks, fit them to doors and learn all the other technical sides you require in our purpose built industrial unit. Subjects covered: Pin-tumbler Locks/Disc Locks/Radial Locks/Pin-Tumbler Lock Bodies/UPVC Lock Bodies/Metal Door Lock Bodies/Knob Sets/Pad Locks/Locker Locks/Lever Rim Locks/Bullet Warded Mortice Locks 2/3 Lever/Sash & Dead Locks 2/3/5 Lever/5 Lever British Standard Mortice Locks/APG Door Locks/Digital Locks/Safes/Lock Fitting/Key Cutting/Auto Locks. To give you the best possible start we will assist you in obtaining accounts at the major UK Locksmith Supply Companies, we will assist you in becoming Self Employed if required, through an Accountant who works nationwide and is experienced in dealing with locksmiths and their needs. We will advise you on the purchase of a vehicle to trade from, how to lay it out and we also have available, through a major supplier, a locksmith Starter Pack, which is all the stock and specialist tools you will need to get started, all at a very competitive price. Field-Training: Week three of your training will be out in the field with an experienced locksmith. This is essential to your career. It confirms what you have learnt and what cannot be re-created in the workshop environment. There is no substitute for realistic training and confirming what you have learnt on a customers' premises, be it domestic or commercial, we will give you the confidence you need to be able to perform your new trade with skill and professionalism. Confidence is gained by your ability to recognise the type of locking system you are confronted with and also being able to correctly diagnose the problem that has arisen, be it a malfunction in the locking system or simply a lost key. Also your working environment will add to the way you handle the situation; for instance it may be 2 o'clock in the morning, pouring with rain and you are at a customers door that has lost a key, you will need to fall back on your training which must be second to none. Along with the ability to do the job you must have the right equipment, this starts with the vehicle, stock and tools you use and carry, and of course the ability to use and fit them. This will lead to a professional end product, which gives you self-satisfaction. Your customer will be confident that everything has been carried out as it should be (professionally). Obviously on field-training you will learn all of the above and other essential requirements like costing your work on a fair and realistic basis, never over-charging the customer. Subjects covered: Lock Recognition/Lock Fitting/Lock Opening (Picking/Reading/Drilling)/Pricing and Invoicing/Vehicle Layout/Stock Levels Required/Specialist Locks to be carried/Care & Maintenance of Tools/Tool Sharpening/House Entry Techniques/Working with Bailiffs & Estate Agents/Stock Ordering. You will also learn how to conduct yourself in customers' premises and also gain good knowledge or simple procedures like using dust sheets. positioning of tool boxes, replacing tools back in a box after use so that they cannot be picked up by children or slipped on by the elderly, and many more useful and essential procedures. On completion of this course you will be ready to go out in the field and earn a good living making your new career work for you and give you the ability to expand your customer base - especially for those of you who have greater ambitions to build your business to a level where you are able to employ people to work for you.
