What topics are covered by the course?

This qualification comprises of two units:

Unit 1 - 1 day - Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors
This is a knowledge-based unit covering counter terrorism issues, first aid situations and requirements regarding children and young people. At the end of this unit, learners will be required to complete a short multiple choice examination.

Unit 2 - 1 day - Physical Intervention skills for the Private Security Industry
This unit covers a range of non-violent options for dealing with the most common scenarios involving physical contact in licensed premises to reduce risk for customers and staff. Topics include legal and professional implications of physical interventions; reducing risk of harm; using non-aggressive physical skills; using non-pain related standing, holding and escorting techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive skills and good practice to follow after physical interventions. This module will involve practical assessment.

Who should attend?

This qualification is required by anyone who is currently working in the Private Security Sector who holds the Level 2 National Certificate of Door Supervisors. This qualification will entitle the candidate to re-apply for a licence as a Door Supervisor and continue to undertake jobs from Door Supervision to Security Guarding.

Level 2 Award in Fire Safety

How will I be assessed?

The Level 2 Award in Upskilling a Door Supervior working within the Private Security industry is assessed through the completion of a multiple choice examination and one practical and one theoretical assessment. The multiple choice examination is marked externally by the BIIAB and the practical and theoretical assessments are internally assessed. This qualification is registered on the Qualifications and credit framework (QCF) at Level 2 and holds a credit value of 3.
