What topics are covered by the course?

Dry Lining is fast becoming one of the most in-demand trades. At TMC you will learn the tools of the trade in fantastic, spacious and well equipped purpose-built facilities. You will be taught through a combination of theory and practical sessions the key elements of producing and finishing plasterboard joints by hand.

Topics covered include:
Health and safety Identifying possible risks when forming and finishing joints and how to protect yourself.
Tools and materials - Understanding the various types of plasterboard, joint reinforcement and finishing compounds. You will also learn how to select and use the correct equipment for the jointing process.
Joint formation Know how to produce tapered and butted edge joints over standard plasterboard, internal and external angles.
Joint finishing Methods of application and sanding joint filler by hand.
Surface preparation Treatment of plasterboards with primer and sealer to ensure they are suitable for decoration.

This course is ideal for those looking to further their career in the plastering industry or simply learn a new skill.

What will I be able to do on completion?

Upon completion of the course you will be able to carry out all aspects taping and jointing to produce smooth, flat surfaces prepared for decoration.

Students are assessed via observation of their acquired skills against current industry standards.
