What topics are covered by the course?

Fitting plasterboard and applying finish are the two most frequently performed plastering tasks, and this course compiles their key elements into a single four day programme. At TMC you will learn the tools of the trade in fantastic, spacious and well equipped purpose-built facilities. Topics covered include:
Health and safety Identifying possible risks when fitting plasterboard and applying finish and how to protect yourself.

Tools and materials - Understanding the various types of plasterboard, joint reinforcement and finishing products. You will also learn how to select, use and maintain all required tools.

Surface preparation - Analysing different backgrounds and determine the treatments required to allow proper board adhesion.

Setting out Planning to ensure plasterboards are flat, level and in their correct locations to ensure a quality finish and maximum structural strength.

Fixing Mixing plasterboard adhesive and securing with dabs, screw selection and placement.

Finishing Mixing finishes and methods of application to create a smooth, flat surface.

This course is ideal for those looking to further their career in the plastering industry or simply learn a new skill.

What will I be able to do on completion?

On completion of the course the learner will be able set out and fix plasterboards, and produce a smooth flat surface using finishing plasters.

How will I be assessed?

The learner will be assessed through observation of acquired skills.
