Part-time CACHE Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (59250)

What topics are covered by the course?

Child development
Early years curriculum (EYFS)
Meeting children’s care needs
Observation, Assessment and Planning for children’s learning
Safeguarding children


You will be in college for 6 hours each week and have 3 taught lessons. Placement with children 0-5 years will give you the practical skills required to complete the course successfully

Who should attend?

A passion for working with young children to support them to develop and learn.

GCSE maths and English at grade C or above or working towards this level (this may be studied alongside the course)

As this course requires contact with young children all learners will be required to have an enhanced DBS; this also includes compliance with ‘Disqualification by Association’ requirements.

What will I be able to do on completion?

Learners who successfully complete this course may progress onto Higher Education courses at Wakefield College; including Early Years Foundation Degree (level 4 and 5)
Other areas for further study may include; early years teaching qualification, children and young families degree, social studies degree, play work degree (depending on experience and meeting university entry requirements)


Qualified Early Years Educator, Pre-school Practitioner, Home – based child carer, Teaching Assistant, Nursery Worker.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be through portfolio building, written assignments, projects, presentations and reflection (currently no exams)
Practical skills will be assessed through direct observation, feedback from setting staff and personal reflection.
