Course Outline
This course considers how to use InDesign CS2 to create page layouts and PDFs for print or the web. After learning all the major InDesign CS2 features and tools, it will allow you to use InDesign creatively to make eye-catching page designs suitable for print or for the web in a secure password protected format.
How to create page layouts and multi-page documents.
How to use Photoshop and InDesign together.
How to export for print or as a secure password protected PDF document.
By the end of the course, using practical hands-on tuition, you will have an understanding of the following features and techniques:
The InDesign interface - Creating, saving and navigating documents, understand the work area.
Importing text - How to import text and flow it through a document.
Styles - Object, paragraph and character styles, how they work and how to use them.
Transparency - Learn how to colourise images and add transparency to imported graphics.
Transforming Objects - Learn how to scale and transform object in InDesign.
Setting up - Understand how to set up your document with guides.
Typography - Learn how to work with type and add special features. How to use tracking and kerning, drop caps and pull quotes.
Graphics - using Photoshop and InDesign and Illustrator and how to import graphics.
Master pages - Learn how to use master pages to speed up your workflow.
Table of contents - Create a TOC, complete with hyperlinks.
Frames - Learn about frames and how they work for images and text.
Colour - How to use the swatches palette and how to apply colours to objects. Learn about the stroke and fill of text.
Tables - Creation of tables and how to format them and insert graphics and text.
Pdf Exporting - Export a PDF for the web or for print, complete with password protection for security. Learn about Preflighting.
