Thank you for choosing Phlebos for your Venepuncture Training. To complete a full Certificate of Competence accredited by the National Association of Phlebotomists (approx 16 hours) you must have: 1. Attended a Theory Day (venue London/Swindon). The day commences at 0915 finishing at around 1630. 2. Attended 4 hours of supervised practical at a GP Surgery, Outpatients Clinic and/or your place of work, working towards your required 50 draws. 3. Arranged for us to conduct a formal assessment session. Annex A details the expected level of achievement which will culminate in you being presented with a Certificate of Competence to Conduct Venepuncture on persons over the age of 16 years. This course is for students who are new to working in a medical environment or who have been employed by the National Health Service or other Healthcare provider and need to take blood as part of your terms of reference. The overall aim of the course is to teach you Venepuncture using the currently accepted Best Practices to collect blood by the procedure of Venepuncture complying with National Occupational Standards (NOS) PH01, PH02 and PH07 as set by Skills for Health.
