What is the purpose of a Manicure / Pedicure?
The purpose of a manicure or pedicure, is to help either look after the nails once they are long and strong but also to help the nails get to that position. A good manicurist will be able to recognise any disorders or conditions of the nail that need additional medical treatments or problems they can deal with or advise on themselves. They can help with the circulation and temperature in the hand by doing good hand massage involving the arm also. This can also help with the flexibility of the fingers and wrist and hand. The manicure can help improve the strength and shape of the nail. Improving the shape helps prevent ingrown nails or nails lifting from the bed. It also removes lose or dead skin, pushes back the cuticles and also improves their overall appearance. Lastly it gives the you, the client, a sense of confidence and well being.
A manicure is a beauty treatment for your hands and nails and the pedicure is the treatment for your feet and toe nails. Your therapist will use a variety of tools, creams, oils, waxes and massage techniques to clean and shape your nails, care for your cuticles, and generally improve the look and feel of your hands and feet.
What is a manicures and pedicures good for?
Your treatment will help improve the texture and health of both the nails and the skin of your hands, as well as leaving them looking polished and perfect.
* clean, shape, strengthen and even "dress" your nails
* attend to any skin problems you might have around the nail, such as broken or sore skin
* use acupressure or hand/foot-massage techniques to stimulate the blood and lymph flow to improve the health of your skin
* use oils, creams and waxes to exfoliate, cleanse and improve the texture of your nails and the skin of your hands or feet.
Apart from making sure your hands and feet look and feel good, a manicure and pedicure often have the side-effect of relaxing and soothing you.
A treatment is usually very soothing. It's nice to have someone touch your hands and nails, and your feet, especially when the therapist will uses reflexology or other hand-massage techniques to relax you.

Thai Seated Massage
You will learn in one day how to safely deliver this relaxing and rejuvenating massage after conducting a thorough consultation and also what post massage advice to provide. This is taught seated, through clothes needing no oils and is a perfect therapy to offer at fairs and workplaces. You will be given a comprehensive manual and certificate upon completion.
Swedish Massage
The Swedish massage course is the most well known form of full body massage, incorporating the back, legs, abdomen, arms, face and head for a complete treatment. You will be taught how to conduct a thorough client consultation, you will gain a full understanding of the contraindications and also what after care advice to provide. You will be taught how to conduct this massage in a safe and professional manner. Upon completion of the third day you will have learned how to conduct a full body massage using a variety of massage techniques. You will be given a comprehensive manual and certificate upon completion.
Facials
Facials and skin exfoliation are an important part of general skin maintenance. You will learn deep cleansing, exfoliation, moisturising, mask application, and massage procedures. Also the A&P of the face and skin, how to conduct a consultation and provide aftercare advice. This is a much sought after qualification in the beauty industry and something great to offer clients who regulary have a face massage. You will be given a comprehensive manual and certificate upon completion.
Indian Head Massage
This Indian Head Massage covers the anatomy of the face, back & shoulder muscles. You will also cover all of its benefits and contraindications. You will be taught how to conduct this massage in a safe and professional manner. You will learn how to conduct a thorough consultation, provide sound after care advice. You will be given a comprehensive manual and certificate upon completion.
Holistic Face Massage
This Holistic Facial Massage incorporates effective techniques from Indian and Japanese Face Massage, Eastern Influences and also the Facial Rejuvenation. You will cover the anatomy of the skin, skull and facial muscles, the massage technique with acupressure points. You will also cover all of its benefit and contraindications. Very similar to the face massage I offer as a treatment, it is rejuvenating and makes you look and feel great! You will be given a comprehensive manual and certificate upon completion.
Hopi Ear Candles
You will learn the history of Hopi, the anatomy and physiology of the skin and the ear. You will cover the contraindications, how to apply the treatment in a safe, hygienic and professional manner. You will learn how to conduct a thorough consultation, provide sound after care advice. A very popular therapy indeed. You will be given a comprehensive manual and certificate upon completion.
Manicure & Pedicure
This course will teach you the principles of Manicure and Pedicure and how to apply them practically using safe, hygienic, effective methods of practice. You will cover anatomy and physiology of the nails and skin and learn how to conduct a thorough consultation and provide sound aftercare advice. You will be shown how to do a paraffin wax treatments to really spoil your clients. Your clients will leave feeling pampered and confident knowing their hands and nails look fantastic. You will be given a comprehensive manual and certificate upon completion.
