What topics are covered by the course?

- common stereotypes and misconceptions
- diagnostic criteria and how a diagnosis is made
- analyse the potential difficulties individuals with this diagnosis may face
- the different treatments available
- discuss and demonstrate different support approaches that can be utilised

Who should attend?

Anyone working within or planning to work within health and social care who has contact with individuals with a diagnosis of schizophrenia. This can include support workers, care workers and their manager.

What will I be able to do on completion?

You will be able to practically apply the skills and knowledge gained into your everyday working practice, following best practice guidelines and supporting individuals appropriately in accordance with their needs.

How will I be assessed?

All students are expected to engage with the course content, getting involved with all the activities and will be expected to pass a short quiz at the end of the course to ensure sufficient learning has taken place.
