What topics are covered by the course?

What you will study

In addition to the practical element, you will study the following topics:

Course Structure
There will be a mixture of theory lessons, homework tasks and practical activities to prepare you for the exams and the 30% assessment of your practical skills.

The full A level is a two year course with all written assessments at the end of the second year.

Who should attend?

5 GCSEs at A* to C (or new grade 9-4), including English, Maths and Science (with Science required at grade B or new grade 6).
You need to be able to demonstrate a good level of ability in at least one sport.

We recommend that you study this alongside a science subject such as Biology. An ideal combination would be PE, Biology and Psychology.

What will I be able to do on completion?

Further study

Most students choose to progress to university to study degrees related to Sport and Physical activity but others choose related options such as Biology, Psychology or Teacher Training.
Career opportunities

A level PE opens up a wide range of career options including teaching, sports physiotherapy, sports coaching, sports development, sport nutrition and the armed forces.

For the full A level at the end of two years:
Two written papers each worth 35% and a practical assessment worth 30%.
