Course Aims
The Moving & Transferring for the Care Industry course is designed to give employees of any level in the caring industry, an understanding of the fundamental elements of good moving and handling practices.
Candidate Suitability
The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to gain a basic knowledge of the moving and transferring of clients and understanding how to eliminate the risk of injury to both client and handler.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the candidate will have gained an understanding of the following:
The regulations which cover Moving & Transferring in the
workplace
The legal duties and responsibilities of Employers and Employers
Anatomy of the spine
The risks associated with poor handling techniques
How to reduce or eliminate the risk of injury to the client or
handler
Looking at different pieces of equipment, their use,
advantages/disadvantages
Risk Assessment and practical evaluation
Accident reporting procedures
Importance of ergonomic design and its application within the
workplace
Trouble shooting and questions
Course Duration
The course is conducted over a period of 4 hours, which can be flexible to suit your requirements.
Qualification
Each candidate will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
Assessment
The candidates are assessed continuously throughout the course by the tutor on demonstration of practical skills and theory. This is the reason for allowing a maximum of 10 students on each course session.
Course Fees
Each session is £300 for a maximum of 10 candidates plus mileage @ 0.32p/mile
