C.I.E.H. Level 2 Certificate in Health & Safety (new qualification previously known as Foundation/Basic Health & safety) Course Aims The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health has designed this basic level course to give Employers and Employees an insight in to Health and Safety practices and principles in the workplace. With increasing health and safety legislation, employers have a statutory requirement to provide adequate health and safety training for their employees. The Level 2 Certificate in Health & Safety is recommended by the Health and Safety Executive as a means of equipping employees with the necessary understanding of good health and safety working practices. Course Objectives Upon completion of the course, the candidate will have gained an understanding of the following: • Health & Safety at Work – duties of employers and employees • Health & Safety Legislation • Accidents R.I.D.D.O.R. and Ill Health • Risk Assessment • First Aid at Work • Personal Protective Equipment • Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations • Dangers associated with Work Equipment • The Risks associated with Electricity • Fire Safety • Manual Handling Procedures and Regulations Candidate Suitability The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to gain a basic knowledge of health & safety Course Duration The course requires a minimum of 6 hours of tuition in line with the requirements of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. Time is also allocated for breaks and lunch. Qualification Each candidate will be awarded a basic certificate in Health and Safety, which should be updated every 3 years. Examination/Assessment At the end of the course, candidates will be required to sit a short multiple choice question paper for which time is allocated within the tuition time. Course Fees CIEH certified course - £48 per candidate inclusive of examination registration fee plus mileage @ 0.32p/mile
