(New qualification previously known as Foundation/Basic Food Hygiene)
Course Aims
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health have designed this basic level courses to give Employers and Employees who directly or indirectly work with food and beverages, an insight in to the importance of good food hygiene practises in the workplace.
It is poor hygiene conditions that are commonly associated with food poisoning, which is predominately caused by ignorance or negligence.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the candidate will have gained an understanding of the following:
• Introduction to Food Safety including Food Safety Legislation
• Bacteria, Microbiology and Illness
• Contamination and Prevention of Illness
• Main principles of food hygiene
• Personal Hygiene
• Cleaning & Disinfection
• Prevention of cross contamination and HACCP systems
• Food Pests
• Premises & Equipment
• Food Safety and Control
Candidate Suitability
The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to gain a basic knowledge of food hygiene & safety
Course Duration
The course requires a minimum of 6 hours of tuition in line with the requirements of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. Time is also allocated for breaks and lunch.
Qualification
Each candidate will be awarded a Level 2 certificate in Food Hygiene, which should be updated every 3 years.
Examination/Assessment
At the end of the course, candidates will be required to sit a short multiple choice question paper for which time is allocated within the tuition time.
Course Fees
CIEH certified course - £48 per candidate inclusive of examination fee plus mileage @0.32p/mile
