Syllabus: The roles of staff within households ; The multifaceted role of the butler, both traditional and modern ; Personal Assistant duties ; Household Management and Security ; Valet skills including packing ; The Dining Room and the laying of tables ; Purchasing, storage and inventories of Wines ; Service of food, the pantry and preparation of food ; Protocol and dealing with family and guests ; Flowers and table arrangements ; Cigars, their handling and storage; Cleaning of silver, glass and fine artefacts ; Liaison with other household and Estate Staff ; Employer to employee relationships ; Fire and Safety guidelines ; Household accounts and budgets ; Household systems and accountability ; Basic employment law ; Basic First Aid – an optional module held on the afternoon of day four.
