What topics are covered by the course?

TPM7130: Creative Company Development
This module will be taught in a series of ten fortnightly 3 hour seminar‐workshops (dates to be confirmed). The course draws on the expertise of staff from the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies, and Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
Subjects will include:
Business master classes in Financial
Planning, Accountability, Managing
People in the Creative Industries,
Marketing, Branding, Relationship
Marketing
The challenges in establishing, developing and sustaining a
theatre company in Wales
Creative strategies for contemporary artistic development
Planning for the cutting edge of the industry, including site
specific project work
Access and Participation: fostering an inclusive working
environment
Cultural heritage
Working with different communities in applied theatre contexts
Organising events and festivals
Planning a project for a specific location or event, e.g. the
National Eisteddfod or other International theatre festivals

Who should attend?

Are you a freelancer or working in an established theatre group
and wish to develop your skills and enhance your creativity? Are you a graduate who wishes to learn how to create, develop and sustain your own theatre company? Would you benefit from working with an experienced mentor in your field? Would you like to enhance your business acumen?

What will I be able to do on completion?

This course is the equivalent of 30 credits at level 7.
Upon successful completion of the module, learners will receive a certificate of achievement from the University.

On successful completion of both courses, students will be awarded a PGCert.

How will I be assessed?

Students are assessed through a series of manageable practical and written assignments that will be agreed when the course begins.

The course will take place in Aberystwyth, Wales and run predominantly from Aberystwyth University's Penglais Campus.
