What topics are covered by the course?

60 level 3 credits: 15 ungraded in Study Skills 45 graded pass merit or distinction in health psychology and biology/sciences.
Level 3: Study Skills, Biology, Human Reproduction, Health, Physiology and Psychology

Who should attend?

The course is aimed at people wishing to return to education and achieve the necessary university entry requirements. No prior qualifications are required as we will take your life experience into account. However, before you apply, please note that this is a fairly demanding course, equivalent to an A Level programme, so you will need to have a good level of literacy, numeracy and a willingness to learn in order to succeed.

What will I be able to do on completion?

The Access Diploma meets the necessary level 3 entry requirements to University degree courses for those wishing to enter professional health careers in: Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Practice, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiography and many other health related degrees.

How will I be assessed?

Progress is monitored and assessed throughout the course. Learners receive regular feedback from their personal tutor to facilitate further learning and development. There are a variety of assessment methods and these include essays, reports, questions and answers. All the units undertaken are part of continuous assessment. This means there is no formal exam at the end of the course.

As you progress through the course you will be able to track your achievements and your personal tutor will support you in meeting the requirements. You will be encouraged to complete the course in a time frame set by you. The course is taught by tutors who have many years of experience in supporting Access to HE students through distance and online learning from pre-enrolment up to Diploma certification and entry to university. Our method of delivery takes into account how returning to education can be an anxious time; therefore we place great emphasis on offering a personalised approach through a very supportive and friendly framework.
