ITEC Level 3 Manual Lymphatic Drainage Diploma For full ITEC Manual Lymphatic Drainage Diploma Syllabus - CLICK HERE The ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Lymphatic Drainage Massage will enable you upon successful completion to provide treatments for the purposes of relaxation and stress release and to aid retention of excess fluid. On this course you will learn both the theory and practical elements of Manual Lymphatic Drainage. You will be taught to understand: * The structure and function of the lymphatic system * The formation, composition and function of lymph * The location of the main lymph nodes of the head, neck and body. * The function of blood and the blood vessels and the effect of lymphatic drainage on them. * The position of the main veins of the head and neck, the interrelationship between blood and lymph and the importance of maintaining homeostasis in the body tissues. * The effects and benefits of lymphatic drainage on the body systems. * The diseases and disorders of the lymphatic system. * Consultations. * Contraindications to lymphatic drainage massage. * The drainage routes of the lymphatic system and the importance of working in the correct direction. * Factors that can affect lymph flow. * Massage movements for lymphatic drainage and the correct pressure. * Client care, referral procedures and how to evaluate and review your lymphatic drainage massage treatments and home care advice. Learning & Examinations: The course consists of 6 days in-house training & assessment plus home study. You will also be required to complete case studies during your training period, this is comprised of treating 3 clients 3 separate times with manual lymphatic drainage and recording the outcomes. These will be handed in and marked by your tutor during your course and then be brought in for the practical exam and shown to the examiner. All lectures are supported with overheads, anatomical charts and teaching aids such as skeletal models, interactive learning is always encouraged. Upon satisfactory completion of a mock theory, students will be eligible to sit the ITEC Diploma in Lymphatic Drainage Massage examination which comprises • A theory paper comprising of 25 questions on each element of the syllabus for the duration of 30 minutes • A Practical exam conducted by an ITEC Practical Examiner for unit 8. • Internal Assessment of ALL case studies by the College Lecturer and External Verification by the ITEC Practical Examiner. Once qualified, students will be awarded an ITEC Diploma in Lymphatic Drainage Massage and become qualified as a Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapist to operate your own clinic or home visiting practice working on clients. Graduates can also gain employment in Salons, Health Club, Health Farms, Spas and Liners, NHS Trust and various aspects of the Care Industry. Professional indemnity and public liability insurance can be obtained via ITEC Professionals and other Industry Associations who recognise the ITEC Diploma. Opportunities for progression Once candidates have achieved the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Lymphatic Drainage Massage they may progress on to other ITEC or equivalent awards at level 3, for example: • Spa Treatments • Aromatherapy Massage • Reflexology • On Site Massage • Indian Head Massage • Sports Massage Course fees include: • all class tuition • a comprehensive set of notes for each session • a lever arch file • writing paper and pen • light refreshments during the day • initial mock examination fees You will be expected to purchase the recommended course theory book that we suggest prior to the start date and also pay for the exam fees which are £80.00. You will also be expected to purchase a portable massage couch for this course to enable you to practice massage at home, if you do not already own one.
