Equality and Diversity

This Equality and Diversity course will help you to develop your knowledge of the issues and anti-discrimination laws that relate to equality and diversity. The course is ideal for employers seeking a structured training programme in equality and diversity to meet the training needs of their employees. The qualification you will achieve is an NCFE Level 2 certificate in Equality & Diversity.

In this course, you’ll study two mandatory units. Here’s a taste of what you’ll find out:

Unit 1 - Exploring Equality and Diversity

This unit aims to establish some of the key definitions and concepts associated with equality and diversity. You will reflect on your own situation and local environment and look at the forces that work against equality and diversity in education, housing, healthcare and employment.

You will understand:

- What equality means
- The ways people might choose to describe themselves
- What diversity means
- Stereotyping and labelling
- Prejudice and discrimination.

Unit 2 - Working or Learning in a Place that Promotes Diversity

This unit will encourage you to apply your knowledge of equality and diversity in your own place of work, which can be a place of employment or learning. You will consider how diversity is encouraged and protected; processes in place to protect and maintain equality and diversity, and recognise the value and worth associated with these for the place of work studies.

You will understand:

- How the place of work tries to create a diverse working environment
- How the place of work maintains and monitors equality and diversity
- The value to the organisation in creating and maintaining a diverse environment.
