What you will study

This apprenticeship framework will develop the knowledge, and skills required to be a construction technician working in the operational environment.



The knowledge qualification to be achieved this is the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.



Studying over two years you can expect to cover units that include
Year 1
Construction Technology
Health and Safety
Surveying
Graphical Detailing
Management of a Construction Project
Measurement Techniques

Year 2
Construction Principles (assessed through examination in January)
Construction Design (assessed through externally set and controlled synoptic assignment in May)
Site Engineering
Building Information Modelling
In addition, you will study and complete a competence qualification to develop your skills in this area

The competence qualification to be achieved is the Level 3 NVQ Diploma Construction Contracting Operations.



Supported by your employer you will collate evidence that demonstrates your progress and ability to complete the technical role in the work place.

Who should attend?

Entry Requirements

You must be employed in a role to gain suitable work experience required by this framework. Apprentices must hold a recognised English and Mathematics qualification at level 2.

What will I be able to do on completion?

Further study

Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Standard for Architectural Joinery. This is available at Wakefield College.

How will I be assessed?

How you will be assessed

Throughout the training period college lecturers will assess through assignment work the knowledge element of the framework. In addition, there will be an externally set and assessed examination in January of the second year and an externally set project.

Successful assessments are graded pass/merit/distinction

In addition, throughout the training period the college assessors will assess and review your progress in relation to your NVQ.
