This three week practical course is designed to provide you with plenty of general bricklaying knowledge to ensure that you leave the centre feeling fully confident in all areas of bricklaying. During the course you will learn the following: * Correctly mixing mortar and stacking out materials * Laying bricks to a line by setting out your builand gauging your workding lines correctly * Plumbing your walls correctly and ensuring that they are square * Building corners, brick pillars and piers * Building walls incorporating patterns * Building cavity walls using bricks and blocks including how to put in wall ties, damp course and a lintel * Using various joint finishes i.e bucket handle, struck joint and racked out * The different types of bonds used in 9” and 4” walls

The course is suitable for anyone, regardless of previous experience. You may want to learn bricklaying as a new business venture or purely to work on your own property. You may even be a professional who needs to improve their skills. On completion of this course you will have gained the confidence and technique to work to a professional level. If there is something in particular that you would like to concentrate on during the week, the tutor will do his best to accommodate you; an example of this would be learning how to set out and build conservatory walls. Your tutor will provide you with lots of general building knowledge to help you become competent in many areas of brickwork.
