Hidden Harm is the effect of parental drug and alcohol misuse on children. It is estimated that there are 1.5 million children of problem drug and alcohol users in the UK. (ACMD 2006). Services naturally focus their attention on the problem user; but in this process, the effects on the children can be overlooked. There is now a government directive that aims to raise awareness of this issue and increase opportunities for early intervention.
