What topics are covered by the course?

Basic technical knowledge including; General health & safety duties, Personal responsibilities, Legislation, Hazards, Role of IMO MCA HSE & MAIB, General standards of conduct for vessel operations, PPE requirements, Incident reporting, Relevant risks, Safe methods of transfer, Signs and symptoms, and understanding of hypothermia, Procedures for vessel and facility emergencies, Procedures for rescue and recovery at sea, SAR helicopter passenger safety, basic first aid.

Basic Practical Skills including; Donning survival clothing, Transferring to and from vessel, Righting a marine life raft, Evacuation vessel or turbine, Water survival techniques, Use of equipment, Rescue from sea

Who should attend?

Personnel intending to work in the Offshore Renewable Energy sector (e.g/ Offshore Wind Farms)

What will I be able to do on completion?

On successful completion of the course candidates should have the basic safety training and competence required to work in the Offshore Renewable Energy sector.

How will I be assessed?

Through written and practical assessment (formative).

This course is delivered by our partners South Tyneside College. All delegates must possess a current RenewableUK Work at Height and Rescue Certificate.
