The course lasts for five days, focusing on training in a group to allow vicarious learning but involving one to one feedback sessions with one of the course trainers who acts as a mentor. The great strength of this is its experiential self reflection style nature. All the teaching is highlighted by progressively developing practical sessions which use participants’ own developments in a non-threatening, safe environment to ensure everyone’s learning is set by the authenticity of their own workplace environment. A reflective diary will be kept by each delegate. Who Should Attend? Newly appointed or soon to be appointed Supervisors who are looking for an introduction into the key principles of modern supervision practice. Further Details

Price is per course but we can provide for individual delegates. A supervisor, is the key link between management and the rest of the operational workforce, and they must perform functions of both communicating management messages to staff, and ensuring those staff meet their performance targets. Different people have different meanings to the term Supervision. It should be seen as a supportive, combined part of the line-management process, where the employees are encouraged to examine and review their work in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. It’s also an essential component in quality assurance with a direct impact on service delivery – so sometimes the behaviour and attitudes of individuals in the workforce need to be challenged. Supervisors are required to combine their management and supervision role with demanding operational responsibilities. Effective supervision and management can often make the difference between commonly advantageous and constructive involvement, and an experience that is less than satisfactory for both parties. Effective Supervision Skills Training is effective throughout working experiences across the range of public service organisations – whether based in the community, voluntary or statutory sectors. It offers a comprehensive training package, focusing on the tasks and performance of the worker while simultaneously building and maintaining the essential supervisory relationship.
