Health & Social Care Foundation Course (HSFC) In compliance with the Skills for Care National Minimum Standards) Who is the course for? New or inexperienced staff, unemployed, single parents, woman returnees and any person wishing to change careers. Course fees includes five workbooks, consultation with a counsellor on developing as a worker, training and certification through ASET Awarding Body The HSFC Foundation Course can either be carried out onsite or at one of our many training venues. Duration: 15 – 30 guided learning hours Will I have to take a test or exam or attend a college? No. You will have workbooks to complete which include internally assessed tasks. All training is carried out at times to suit you, so as not to disrupt your working schedule. What will I need? You will need to complete a satisfactory interview to demonstrate a strong commitment to succeed. There is no age limit, prior knowledge or experience required. You will be required to be literate and numerate. What will I study? The Syllabus consists of 6 Units containing 44 Elements. It is in compliance with the Skills for Care Induction Standards and mapped to the National Minimum Standards Qualification.

What evidence does it provide? It provides evidence for the organisation where you will or already work that you have successfully completed your induction and is linked to the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Health and Social Care Level 2. By attending this course you may have evidence you can use for this qualification What can I do afterwards? You can choose to work in a hospital, residential care home or the community, assisting patients with tasks they cannot manage on their own. Some care assistant’s visit and support patients in their own homes. In hospitals they may escort patients between hospital departments, assist with treatments or examinations, keep the ward tidy, check and sort supplies and help with paperwork. Progression: The Health & Social Care Foundation Course offers numerous possibilities for progression into a range of health careers such as Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Radiography and Paramedics etc. It also covers the underpinning knowledge for a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 and 3 in Health & Social Care. You will be given the opportunity to gain qualifications in awards that are either necessary or required i.e. Health & Safety, First Aid, Manual Handling, Infection control, Food Safety, Dementia, NVQ Levels 2-3-4 in Health & Social Care and many more.
