Course Objectives: On completion of the course, participants should be able to: • Understand the key principles related to the protection of children within the "Children Act", "Working Together" and "Framework for Assessment" . • Recognise that where there are concerns about the protection of a child. • Be aware of the pre-disposing factors of child abuse and neglect. • Understand what child abuse is and how to recognise it. • Respond appropriately to concerns about a child and/or family. • Be aware of the issues of confidentially and decision-making. • Understand the importance of having access to local child protection procedures and guidance documents. • Be aware of their own role and the roles and responsibilities of different agencies.
