The class room element of the course covers:- Relevant legislative requirements; Hazards in using mobile scaffold towers ; Safe systems of work ; Safe erection and dismantling and safe storage ; There is a practical session that requires students to erect and dismantle a 4.2m high tower under supervision of the tutor. A tower is required for each group of 4 students. The training centre normally arranges the hiring of suitable scaffold towers, although the client's equipment can be used provided it is in good condition, all the parts are available, and the instruction booklet for the tower is available. By the end of the course, candidates will be able to assemble and dismantle scaffold towers safely, inspect a tower and understand the hazards and limitations of using a tower. A short multiple-choice test concludes the course. Successful candidates receive a certificate of competence.
