Who is the course aimed at? Those working as technicians in the technical theatre industry who wish to gain a formal qualification. It proves a useful introduction for those who may wish to move on to take a further qualification and prove their competence in specialist areas such as Lighting, Flying and Sound etc. It also provides employers and freelancers with the opportunity to fulfil obligations under the Health & Safety at Work Act. How can I gain the qualification? You can attend all three days and, if successful, gain a nationally recognised qualification, from the awarding body Edexcel. The qualification is a BTEC (Intermediate) Award – Technical Skills in Live Entertainment, which is only awarded once candidates have successfully completed all parts of the course including all assessments.
