Apache is the most popular web server on the internet. It is not difficult to see why this is the case. Apache is secure, extensible, and platform independant.
This course will cover detailed apache configuration options. It will provide the attendant with the knowledge to set up multiple websites on a server for a range of scripting protocols, such as html, asp, jsp and servlets, cgi, and perl. The attendant will learn how to set up secure socket layer (SSL) encryption on websites and will obtain an appreciation for good website security techniques.
Apache extension techniques will be explored and the attendants will discover the apache module programming interface.
The course will cover the configuration of squid, an open source proxy cache. The different modes of operation will be explored, as will the pros and cons of its use.
