The International Association of Book-keepers (IAB) Certificate in Computerised Book-keeping (Level 2) is equivalent to an NVQ 2. Its aim is to accredit candidate's knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles concerned in the use of a commercial computerised accounting system for both routine, non-routine and more complex tasks. This is a 12 week course of 2.5 hours per week, with examinations in January and June. In addition it accredits some IT skills of the candidates in detailing their knowledge concerning data integrity and security issues surrounding computer systems.

This qualification requires candidates to understand those transactions which are necessary for the day-to-day function of an accounting system and for processing simple monthly and weekly data. Accuracy, integrity and security of data should always be uppermost in the candidate's mind. Students have the opportunity of practising on past papers with model answers and will also be expected to do some background reading and research in their own time. All candidates who achieve a Pass grade will be awarded an IAB Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Book-keeping
