This course will give delegates the necessary information and skills required to carry out routine/emergency maintenance on High Voltage (up to and including 11kv) switchgear and an appreciation of the safety procedures associated with high voltage electrical distribution.

Training Purpose

To give delegates the skills to operate and maintain high voltage switchgear, and give guidance on the practical and procedural methods of safe working on electrical distribution equipment.

Who would Benefit

Mechanical/Electrical (M&E) maintenance staff, prospective Authorised Persons, managers and senior apprentices who have responsibilities for HV switchgear.

Training Coverage

Safety Regulations for HV electrical distribution systems
Earth electrode testing by various methods
Practical work on HV switchgear maintenance of circuit breakers and outdoor switchgear
HV pressure testing, of cables and equipment, including vacuum bottles
Transformer maintenance, gas, oil sampling, analyse, Buchholtz relay testing
Theory/hands on, secondary injection testing of electro-magnetic, electronic IDMT relays and TLF protection.
