First aid at work requalification

This comprehensive two-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. In addition to this, should there have been any change to protocols during their initial qualification, then this will be updated. This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

DURATION

A minimum of 12 hours spread over at least two days. Ideally, the course should be run over two consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire.

SYLLABUS

A range of subjects is covered including:

Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
Infection control
Assessment of the situation
Resuscitation
Choking
Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
Bandaging
Shock
Control of bleeding
Eye injuries
Fractures
Head injuries
Poisoning
Strains
Control of bleeding
Sprains
Burns and scalds

ASSESSMENT AND MARKING

All students will be assessed by a multi choice examination followed by a practical assessment by an independent assessors on the ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is unresponsive, requires CPR and who is wounded and bleeding

CERTIFICATION

Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued a First Aid at Work certificate approved by the Health and Safety Executive for a further three years.
