There are three units:
-Personal Development as a Manager and Leader
-Performance Management
-Leadership Practice
Each intensive unit is delivered over a two-day weekend (Friday and Saturday) at the University's de Havilland Campus. You will also be required to spend additional time on independent study. This is dependent on the combination of units selected by each individual candidate. However, between 45 and 55 guided learning hours is expected.
This course is designed to develop your leadership and management skills and focuses on areas such as:
-Reviewing your current competencies
-Identifying development opportunities
Understanding the links between individual, team and organisational objectives
-How to create an environment of trust and support
The performance review process
-How to prevent conflict
-Discussing the concept of managers as effective leaders
-Examining different leadership styles

At the end of Day 1 candidates will:
-Understand what coaching is and how it differs from mentoring
-Know how coaching can support and motivate individuals & teams
-Develop an appreciation of the role and benefits of coaching & mentoring
-Discover how to use two successful coaching models
-Learn how coaching skills and techniques can enhance performance
At the end of Day 2 candidates will know how to:
-Use some advanced questioning skills
-Give effective and clean feedback
-Use basic coaching tools/skills
-Recognise where coaching is relevant and useful
-Build coaching & mentoring resources
