6th March 2008 ~ 10.00 - 5.00 Traditionally this massage begins with the soaking of the feet in a wooden barrel or foot bath containing a liquid medicine chosen specifically for the client. After resting and refreshing the feet, a thick layer of lotion is spread on the feet and calves, then every point of the foot is rubbed and kneaded. Practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine suggest that there are 62 reflection points on the soles of the feet which correspond to different parts of the body.

6th March 2008 ~ 10.00 - 5.00 This course is taught by Susan Hagan. Su is the chair of the IFPA. She has 30 years experience as an independent therapist, and teaches Anatomy + Physiology, and Aromatherapy to diploma level, as well as a wide range of post - grad courses both nationally and internationally. Since the feet are the furthest part of the body from the heart, acid metabolises in the blood, which causes unused calcium and other organic substances to settle in the feet, where they form tiny bubbles of air and nuggets of aid build up. This can be very painful and be the cause of poor posture and bad walking habits. The situation can become chronic, causing further pain and possibly even psychological problems due to immobility and lack of independence. Applying pressure on the points will help remove harmful matter and is a preventative measure so that the feet are regularly cleared of the waste that can cause the problems in the first instance.. Course Content: * Assessing foot problems * Choosing the correct blend of herbs for the bath * A foot bath * Performing a foot massage * Pressure points on the feet * Contraindications and cautions This course is recognised by IFPA and Embody for CPD points. Recognised and covered by FHT, IPTI and others, with Body Massage Cert or equivilant. It is open to all to add on to existing qualifications and for non-professionals to practice on family and friends
