This one day course is entirely suitable for beginners. Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive system of healing, available to anyone who desires to work with it. Reiki attunements help one to open to the natural healing abilities that are inherent in every person. After completion of this course, students will have a thorough introduction to the elements of Reiki practice, as well as the ability to give treatments to themselves and others as well.
The course is a combination of lecture, discussion and experience. A welcoming environment is ensured, and course sizes are kept to small groups. After introductions, I usually give two lectures: one on the nature and philosophy of Reiki, and one on the history of Reiki, both in Japan and in the west. The morning concludes with time for questions and discussion, and then we break for lunch.
The afternoon segment of the course is more experiential than the morning lectures. Students are attuned to first degree Reiki, and shown how to give treatments to both themselves and others. We cover the Japanese techniques of Gassho, Reji-Ho and Chiryo, as well as western models of therapeutic practice. A substantial part of the afternoon is devoted to the practice of giving treatments; every student is assured the opportunity to both give and receive Reiki treatments.
An extensive course manual, Reiki: The Healing Touch is provided for each student, as well as a certificate of completion. Follow up support is also provided for all students, should the need arise. The centre hosts a monthly Reiki share, where practitioners of all levels and lineages may come to exchange treatments; all students are encouraged to attend. Private consultations are also available.
The tuition fee for Reiki I is £100. Bookings may be secured by a deposit of £50, the remainder of the balance being payable on the course date.
