How you will learn
The award is based on actual work-based performance. Your Assessor will work with you to plan and assess your practical work in the workplace. The bulk of your learning will therefore be in the workplace, but training and support will be provided to ensure that you are meeting the required standard. You will work on a one-to-one basis with your Assessor, whose visits will be flexible to meet your needs and the needs of your employer.
How you will be assessed
There are no examinations. You will be allocated an Assessor who will visit you in your workplace and observe you carrying out your daily tasks and duties. You will be required to compile a portfolio of evidence of your competence and knowledge, which your assessor will help you to prepare. There may also be written assignments to complete.
Entry Requirements
You need to be employed in an appropriate role within the health sector. For the advanced apprenticeship (Level 3) you should already possess considerable technical skills and knowledge and be working with minimum supervision. You will also need literacy and numeracy qualifications at Level 1 for the apprenticeship or Level 2 for the advanced apprenticeship. If you do not possess qualification in literacy and numeracy, we can assess your current level.
Attendance
There is a requirement for one day release to complete the Award in Employment and Personal Learning Skills in Health but otherwise the course is work-based.
