This 3-day course will introduce Lean Thinking in the context of Operations Management and associated ideas and concepts. We begin with an overview of the history of Lean Thinking and Lean methods and introduce the philosophy and concepts underpinning Toyota and the Toyota Production System (TPS). The course provides an introduction to process mapping and modelling approaches as well as the tools and techniques which support Lean and Six Sigma. Trends in Lean Thinking such as Lean is Green, Efficiency versus Effectiveness and the move operations management will be covered. Finally, we will provide delegates with an overview of some of the pitfalls and challenges of implementing Lean Thinking, as well as a set of practical guidelines to ensure success.
