PROFESSIONAL REFLEXOLOGY DIPLOMA COURSE The Reflexology course is divided into six workshops comprising, both theory and practical training, plus written assignments, case studies and several weeks of field training out of the workplace.

Study will include the following subjects: -. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY Detailed study of the body system and related areas of hands and feet. Development and control of correct thumb and finger pressure. Treating specific disorders. Couch guidelines. Contra-indications. Case history taking – clinical situations. Relaxation techniques for patient and therapist. First aid measures. SOFT TISSUE MASSAGE The history and theory of massage. Indications and contra-indications. The various limbs massage movements, their applications, uses and effects. CLINICAL REFLEXOLOGY Consultations and case history taking. Treatment progress. Patient care and giving advice. Joint and rheumatic disorders. Respiratory problems. Digestive disorders. Female problems. Urogenital disorders and other problems. PRACTICE MANAGEMENT Setting up in business – what you need to know, including hygiene, health and safety measures, insurance cover and associations. Advertising, treatment charges and clinic room requirements. Referrals and communication with general practitioners Ethics, codes of conduct etc. COST OF THE COURSE A deposit of £40 will be required in the first instance, to secure a place. The cost of the whole course is £280. If there is any problems it may be possible to pay in instalments. Please contact the Secretary for details. The cost will include all of the course content Manuals, paperwork etc. All oils, lotions and sundries used at the workshops. The Assessment Fee. The Diploma and Badge on qualification. Tea, coffee, herbal teas and biscuits are also provided. (In the event of any course not going ahead, all deposits will be refunded in full). WORKSHOPS Workshops will take place one Sunday a month commencing on the 11th March 2007 and on the following dates. 1st April. 13th May. 10th June. 8th July. 12th August. Please Note: All Treatments are carried out on professional couches - Not on the floor. Students will both give and receive the treatments carried out to ensure maximum understanding of the processes involved. The course is designed in this instance, for smaller groups, to ensure maximum individual tuition throughout. Mature Students are very welcome. Time: 10.30am - 3.30pm. Venue: The Hedley Way Centre, Dawlish, situated in the Manor House grounds. Barton Street car park is very close by. Directions will be given on request if required. STUDENT REQUIREMENTS For the purposes of individual hygiene, please bring with you two old bath/beach towels for your own use, for lesson 2 and following lessons. Please also bring with you a light lunch if required. Kitchen facilities are available for those wishing to heat up snacks etc if required, at no extra cost.
