What you will study
You will gain a solid foundation in media and computer games principles and technologies through the study of units which may include:-
* Research for Creative Media Production
* Communication Techniques for Creative Media Production
* The Creative Media Sector
* Media Audiences and Products
* Digital Graphics for Interactive and Print-based Media
* 2D Digital Art for Computer Games
* Deconstructing Computer Games
* Computer Games testing
You will also work towards a Functional Skills or GCSE qualification in English or Maths.
Your Course Structure
Classroom: 30%; Practical: 70%
How you will learn
This is a practical, work-related course with academic and theoretical exploration threaded throughout. You will develop through completing assignments that are based on realistic industrial activities within the specialism of musical theatre. You will have the opportunity to show your work in public performances.
How you will be assessed
You will participate in your own continuous assessment through practical projects. Your tutor will provide regular feedback and maintain a record of assessment which may be externally verified.
Entry Requirements
You must have at least one of the following:-
* Equivalent of four GCSEs at grade A* - D (including English
and an Art, Media, IT or Design-related subject) and a suitable reference.
* Introductory Diploma and a suitable reference.
* Relevant work experience
* Other related Level 1 or 2 qualifications and a suitable reference.
* Portfolio interview
Attendance
One year full-time, Monday to Friday, for approximately 16 hours per week (across 2. 5 days), including tutorial time, plus a similar amount of time for private study. Other qualifications will form part of this course. These may include English (GCSE or Functional Skills) and Preparation for Working Life.
Further study
HND Diploma in Dance or Theatre, offered at the University Centre, Wakefield. Other HE courses in musical theatre, acting, dance, performing arts, education and the arts.
