Course Code SMT Duration - 2 Days Overview This course is concerned with modelling systems from a variety of perspectives. It requires candidates to construct four main types of model reflecting these individual perspectives and to describe the interaction between them. The syllabus is constructed so that the examination can reflect different modelling notations and hence does not go into details in any one specific approach. This allows a choice of structured, object oriented or agile modelling approaches to be examined Course Objectives—Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to: - Define the need for modelling and modelling techniques - Explain why it is important to model system requirements from different perspectives and identify specific modelling techniques - Construct a static structure model (e.g. Logical data structure, entity relationship diagram or class diagram) - Construct a process model (e.g. Data flow diagram, use case diagram, swim lane diagram, task model, business rules model) - Construct a simple dynamic event driven model (e.g. State chart model, collaboration diagram, interaction diagram) - Construct a simple user interface model ( e.g. User conceptual model, web site navigation model) - Evaluate how the various models reflect business objectives and system requirements (e.g. Critical success factors, business motivation models) - Appreciate how the various perspectives inter-relate to each other
