Overview
Modern business organisations are increasingly dependent on information systems and technology. In order to deliver effective solutions to business needs, it is vital that IT developers have an understanding of the way in which typical businesses operate. This course provides an understanding of common business functions, how management information can assist in planning and control of organisations and the role played in business by IT systems.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Describe the range and type of business organisations in the UK
- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of a range of management structures operated within organisations
- Demonstrate an understanding of the work carried out by key functions found within organisations
- Explain legislative issues affecting Information Systems
- Understand the range of activities carried out by financial and management accountants
Apply investment appraisal, costing and cash flow forecasting techniques

Professional Qualification
This course is one of an integrated set of courses leading to the widely respected British Computer Society Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB) Diploma in Business Analysis.
Optional Examination.
An optional examination can be taken at the end of the course.
The examination consists of 15 minutes reading time followed by a one-hour “open book” written examination based upon a business scenario.
The examination is charged for separately.
