The CIEH Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid is a two-unit award, comprising:

Unit 1: Paediatric Emergency First Aid
Unit 2: Managing Paediatric Illness and Injury

The Practice Guidance in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets out the first-aid training requirements for Ofsted-regulated child-care settings. This guidance includes details of the course content and the duration of the training. The CIEH Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid has been developed to meet these requirements and is based on the QCF Units F/600/2036 and J/600/2037.

Unit 1: practical assessment plus 15 MCQ examination paper
Unit 2: practical assessment plus 30 MCQ examination paper

Ofqual accredited: Yes

Suggested progression: On successful completion of the CIEH Level 2 Award in Paediatric First Aid, candidates are issued with a certificate, which the CIEH strongly recommends is renewed every three years in line with the HSE requirement for Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work.

The HSE strongly recommends that all first aiders do an annual half-day refresher course to help them to maintain their basic skills and keep up-to-date with any changes to first-aid procedures.
