What you will study

It is expected that you will have completed the following ten units over the two year HNC programme:-

* Design Principles and Application for Construction and the Built Environment
* Science and Materials for Construction and the Built Environment
* Applied Mathematics for Construction and the Built Environment
* Group Project for Construction
* Engineering Geology and Soil Mechanics
* Civil Engineering Technology
* Structural Analysis and Design
* Site Surveying Processes for Construction and the Built Environment
* Managing Principles and Application for Construction and the Built Environment
* Health, Safety and Welfare for Construction and the Built Environment

The study programme for this additional year will involve both work based learning and a research project. In addition these four areas will be studied

* Measurement, tendering and estimating
* Applied mathematics
* Contractual procedures
* Law and contract

In addition, working with ICE, students can attain TMICE.


How you will learn

Through a combination of formal and informal sessions including practical, resource-based learning activities with tutorial back-up, together with work-based learning.

How you will be assessed

Continuous assessment through class exercises, presentation work and assignments.

Entry Requirements

Level 4 qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Those with substantial professional experience in the construction sector will also be considered.


Attendance

One day per week, from 9 am to 6 pm, over one academic year (34 weeks per year from early September to June). The day of attendance is expected to be Thursday.
