employers are required to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to employees – this
includes suitable training.
The CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling Principles provides the theoretical elements of techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities.

Candidates will be introduced to manual handling
operations and will learn of the potential hazards to the health and safety of workers
They will learn how manual handling operations can cause injury and harm
Candidates will understand the scope of legal requirements
Candidates will understand the process for assessing
the risks from manual handling and the factors that
need to be considered. This will enable them to provide advice to employers in order to reduce risks to employees or others affected by their work activities.
