What is Tui Na? Tui means “push” and Na means “grasp”. Tui Na has been practised in China for more than 4000 years. It is a deeply penetrating massage therapy provided within the Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) system. In China Tui Na is the equivalent of physiotherapy and sports therapy. Tui Na works both on the muscles and joints as well as stimulating acupoints to rebalance Qi (pronounced CHEE, in English it means life energy) throughout the meridians. Tui na is a medical method using the arms, hands, fingers, elbows and knees as tools for treating diseases and illnesses. Tui na is also used to protect and maintain health and help to build up body immunity, so that disease can be stopped in its beginning, acting as a preventative medical measure without any side effects. In summary, Tui na rectifies anatomical anomalies, alters the inner energy state of the biological system and adjusts the biological information of the body. Tui na may be applied to treat a variety of disorders from soft tissue injuries to other kinds of ailments such as rheumatic pain, tiredness, lack of energy and any symptoms caused by stress or emotional problems. Tui na is even used for cosmetic purposes such as weight loss and an alternative to botox! Suitable for adults and infants Tui na is especially good for sports medicine, general health care of the elderly, rehabilitation and orthopaedics. "Injury or disease cause blockages in the channels of the body. Blockages cause pain. Tui Na works to unblock these channels."
